JTeach Academy is a registered, inspected private school in Ontario that offers Jewish content infused high school credit courses that follow the Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines.
JTeach Academy is authorized by the Ontario Ministry of Education to grant credits towards the successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
JTeach Academy is a student centric designed learning experience for today’s Jewish high school student embracing the very best of today’s learning environments. JTeach Academy offers high school students of public and private schools the opportunity to learn in an environment with smaller teacher to student ratios providing for differentiated instruction that meets individual students’ needs. Central to the JTeach Academy philosophy is providing each and every student with excellence in education while at the same time connecting them to their Jewish identities.
JTeach Academy’s courses are provided in two formats. The first is a Blended Learning format that combines both in person and synchronous online classes. The second is our Guided Self-Directed Learning format which is an online format that allows students flexibility in when they complete their course material and assessments. Unique to JTeach Academy is the collaboration with Jewish organizations and agencies in the development of our courses combining the very best in pedagogy with real world experience.
JTeach Academy’s administration and teaching staff are comprised of professionally trained educators with decades of teaching experience. We offer our staff continual professional development designed to increase and improve our teaching excellence.
Overall and Curriculum Goals
JTeach Academy is committed to providing our students with quality courses applicable towards their secondary school diploma. JTeach Academy adhere to all curriculum expectations as defined and outlined by the Ministry of Education in the applicable curriculum documents and Growing Success.
We strive to help all of our students to reach their highest academic potential through the provision of teaching and learning excellence, while connecting our students to aspects of their Jewish identities in order to connect them to their spiritual, traditional and cultural heritage.
Note: The Education Act in Ontario states that students must remain in school until June of the school year that they turn eighteen or until they have obtained an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
School Organization
JTeach Academy offers both semester long and year long courses running from the end of September until the first week of June. We also offer Summer School courses that can be completed in as little as 4 weeks and as long as 8 weeks. Term/semester 1 commences in September and runs to January. Term/semester 2 begins in February and runs until June (July if students participate in an Israel trip). Blended Learning classes take place once a week for two consecutive 75 minute (2.5 hr) periods and only run as full year (September to June) courses.
JTeach Academy classes are also offered in a Guided Self-Directed Learning format which are online classes with dedicated support from a teacher..
Our in person classes take place in the Greater Toronto Area and Vaughan, ON.
School Calendar
Every high school in Ontario distributes an annual course calendar, which describes the courses offered by the school in the coming year. The calendar also provides information on school policies, sets out expectations of students’ responsibilities, achievements, and attendance, and outlines the school’s code of conduct.
